So, as the title says, today was plyometrics day. Basically consisted of a lot of jumping. Was a good work out. I held back a little on some of the 'heavier' jumps since I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building... but completed the whole work out, less 3 minutes of the cool down.
I don't know why I didn't do the last 3 minutes. For some reason I felt like I was running late, but getting to work even an hour later would not have affected my day in the slightest. Needless to say, I will just have to focus on the workout and forget the time, since I would say that in 99 times out of 100, it would not change anything in my day if I were a few minutes later to ANYTHING.
As for food, I have it recorded in my phone, but ate generally healthy, less the pops (yes more than one) that I had today. Overall I am happy with what/the way I have been eating, and only seeing it getting better as time goes on.
Thanks for following, and tomorrow is another day were I record my reps, so I will post that up. Goodnight.

Workout #1: Chest & Back, then Ab Ripper X.
So the Chest & Back workout was not bad. Most all of the excercises are geared towards doing as many reps as possible in the time. Set a goal, then do it basically.
So, the work out went as follows:
EXAMPLE: Activity (number of reps)
Push Ups (25)
Pull Up Wide (12) utilized a chair
Military Push Up (15)
Reverse Grip Chin Up (10) utilized a chair
Wide Fly Push Up (20)
Close Grip Overhand Pull Up (10) utilized a chair
Decline Push Up (10)
Heavy Pants (16 lbs, 18 reps) Basically you bend over using two weights, and bring your elbows up and close to your body.
Diamond Push Ups (8)
Lawn Mower (16 lbs, 15 reps each arm)
Divebomb Push Up (5)
Back Flys (16lbs, 14 reps)
THEN, they have you do the same activities, but swap them up...
Pull Up Wide (12) utilized a chair
Push Ups (19)
Reverse Grip Chin Up (10) utilized a chair
Military Push Up (12)
Close Grip Overhand Pull Up (10) utilized a chair
Wide Fly Push Up (15)
Heavy Pants (16 lbs, 12 reps) Basically you bend over using two weights, and bring your elbows up and close to your body.
Decline Push Up (10)
Lawn Mower (16 lbs, 15 reps each arm)
Diamond Push Ups (6)
Back Flys (16lbs, 15 reps)
Divebomb Push Up (6)
TOTALS:
Push Ups: 151
Pull Ups: 64
NOTE: On all pull ups I used a chair to put one foot on to assist myself. I did push myself on the pull ups and only assisted myself as needed. As I posted prior, I was just shy of 4 pull ups without assistance. I really like the assistance of the chair. With this technique I can see myself being able to do 10 pull ups without assistance very quickly.
So, for weights I went to the store last night and dumb bells were about $1/#. I wanted to get (2) 30#'s & (2) 40#'s. That would have been $140 plus tax! I figure I can go on Craigslist and find a weight set someone bought and is not using anymore for that or less, and have all the weights!
What I did... So, on my way out of the store I stopped and picked up (4) one gallon containers of water. 1 gallon of water is approximately 8 #'s, so I used what I could hold in one hand... 2. That is how I got 16 #'s. I figured that was better than nothing to start.
RIGHT AFTER the Chest & Back workout, the DVD goes into their Ab Ripper X, which is approximately 12 minutes of ab workouts. Here is how I did...
NOTE: All sets are intended to be 25 reps, coming out to 350 reps total.
In & Outs (25)
Bicylce (25)
Reverse Bicylce (20)
Cannot read the name on my sheet, but the activity is sitting on the ground, bring your feet up to approximately 6 inches off the ground. Extend both arms out to your sides. As you bring your knees to your chest, wrap your arms around your legs. (20)
Cross Leg Sit Ups (20)
Fifer Scissor (25)
Hip Rock n Rake (20)
Pulse Up [Heels to Heavan] (10)
V-Up w/ Roll Up (20)
Oblique V-Up Right side (20)
Oblique V-Up Left side (20)
Leg Climb (12/12)
Mason Twist (40)
Total Ab Moves: 289
So that was the work out for the day. Started it at approximately 8:00 AM. I will update what I ate for the day after I eat dinner, but so far so good less the giant Mountain Dew I drank. I am sure like in the past some of these bad eating habits will melt away as I feel them impacting my work outs. Right now just starting I don't really notice the difference.
PS. Now I am going to check out Eric Laakmann's blog and see how I compare!

90 Day Fitness Challenge: P90X
So I have decided to do the P90X program.
I have tried the program before for a few weeks but the day we got to the Yoga X disc I was shocked to find out it was an hour and a half long, and that morning at 6:30 AM I did not have time for an hour and a half work out before I had to be at work... so I stopped doing it.
Luckily, I have now gone to hot yoga classes. I have been 10 + times and really liked it. The only thing I did not like was the lack a variety. With the P90X program I should get that...
So, enough small talk, here is the "Prep" they recommend prior to starting they program:
1. Watch the "How to Bring it Disc" ... Check
2. Record your measurements and take before pictures ... Check
RESULTS:
Body Fat %: Unsure. My electronic scale was not working properly.
Weight: 214 LBS
Chest: 41 inches
Waist: 39 1/2 inches
Hips: 38 1/4 inches
Right Thigh: 24 inches (@ mid point of thigh)
Left Thigh: 24 inches (@ mid point of thigh)
Right Arm: 16 inches (@ mid point of flexed arm)
Left Arm: 16 inches (@ mid point of flexed arm)
NOTE: Measurements were done using a charger cord for one of my paintball guns, then used a ruler to get measurement.
3. Take the Fitness Test ... Check
RESULTS:
EXAMLE: (Minimum recommended to start) Activity: My result
2nd line will explain exercise
(None) Resting Heart Rate: 68
Stand there, count heart beats in 30 seconds, then double to get heart rate. They recommended using a heart rate monitor, but I did not have one.
(3) Pull Ups: 3 3/4
Standard pull up with your knuckles toward your face.
(5 inch) Vertical Leap: 8 inch (estimate)
Stand with one shoulder against a wall. Put your hand up. Measure. Do the same thing, but jump. Measure. Subtract standing from jump for score.
(15) Pushups: 27
Normal Pushups.
(-6) Toe Touch: 0 (finger tips even with toes)
Sit on ground with feet together, try to touch toes. Your score is the # of inches away from your toes. If you cannot reach your toes it is recorded as a (-), if you go past your toes it is a positive.
(60 second) Wall Squat: 2 min 5 sec (could have gone longer)
Wall sit. Sit against the wall with your knees bent at a 90 degree angle. You cannot use your hands on the wall or you legs to help you.
(10 rep w/ 20 lbs) Bicep Curl: 3lb weight (all I had) 150 reps, stopped early. Was to easy.
Standard bicep curl.
(25) In & Outs: 30
Lay on ground, extend legs. Feet come off ground, and you bring your knees to your chest. Bring feet back to approx 6 inches off the ground.
Last activity was 2 minutes of jumping jacks at a quick pace. The last 30 seconds are an all out 'sprint.' After doing this you are to record your heart rate:
Right when you stop: 130
1 Minute after: 90?
2 Minutes after: 96
3 Minutes after: 96
4 Minutes after: 88
Please note for this activity I had my TV on, there was horns goin off in the parking lot, and lots of other noises, making it hard to keep count of beats.
Since I do not have a heart rate monitor, as soon as I was done I counted heart beats for 30 seconds, then doubled what I counted, so each recording is from approximately 30 seconds after the listed time.
NOTE: I did not really push myself. I was suppose to so I could use this to see the outcome after 90 days. I am not worried about that, just that I meet atleast the minimum to do the program.
4. Get your kitchen in order ... have yet to do. Waiting to hear from Dusty to see if he still has his nutrition guide.
5. Go to the message boards for support ... an unneeded Check.
So, now that that is all done and recorded, I am ready for tomorrow. I do need to go pick up a few things like some weights. I also did take the pictures, and will post them up here at some point, just don't have the cord to hook the camera to the computer I am using.

A quick sponsor video
Nate Schroeder and Alex Borromeo came up to the new Indoor Arena yesterday to do a quick sponsor video. They recorded all the footage while I worked around the facility and this morning I threw it together. Here it is:

Goals Goals Goals
Well, an update to my 30 day challenge...
I have not so much as thought about pop (besides saying no to it) since I started the challenge. The pops part has been very easy. My brother Dusty said that he heard of a professional basketball player that had been drinking (1) 12 ounce Mountian Dew a day, and once he stopped he ended up losing around 20 pounds. Dusty either made that up to inspire me, or the guy lied about how much Mountain Dew he was drinking...
10 days in I was at a nice dinner with Ann, and decided it would be out of place to just drink water, so I endulged and had a couple beers. I have drank a couple times socially, but as with any goal/challenge, I have made progress and moved forward. It is not always vital to 'hit the mark,' especially in personal development. It is important that you improve though, and the first step is always thinking about what you would like to change, set a goal, then figure out the steps or sub goals you would need to attain to hit the larger goal.
I am going to a new hot yoga studio, as my 30 day unlimited pass expired from the last studio, and I want to check out other places in my area. Yoga has been very fun, and it gives me a reason to wake up early. The nice thing about the new studio I go to is that they have early morning classes Monday thru Friday starting at 6:00 AM or 6:30 AM. Yesterday was my first day and the class was a Power Yoga class. That stuff is intense. Kicked my butt. Really good for me as it felt like there was lots of lower body stretch, which is my tight area.
As far as the Indoor Arena goes, I will probably get a desk today. My office is complete, and I believe the final inspection is taking place as I type. If it is, I am going in, heading to get a new desk, and getting my 'personal space' set up. I will also be sealing up the last of the tarps today. The tarps look very good and I am glad they are almost done. I will post some pictures if I get some time. Along with that, the Broadway shop should be 70% moved or so by the end of the day. Hoping to be operating the store section of the new facility by Friday.
Anyways, if you read this I hope things are going good for you and you have a great week.
Danny

Aother Indoor update
Here is a quick video clip I took after the turf install was complete today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8jsMT1pbMY
So the turf install is complete and the additions are ALMOST done. There is still some electrical work that needs to be complete, and some trim work. We should be starting to transfer some product down tomorrow and generally getting ready for moving the Broadway shop to the new facility. This place is going to be amazing. I cannot wait to finally put my gear on and play there, I haven't had my gear out since I cleaned and put it away after Phoenix...
The big delay at this point is the netting. It has not shipped yet, as it is being custom made and it is not yet complete. I will post up here when it ships.
Check back here regularly for updates on the arena.

30-Day Challenge update
Well, it has been 9 days since I decided not to drink Mountain Dew or alcohol for 30 days... only 21 days to go... I believe I have consumed 100 ounces of water each day, but am not positive. There were a few days were I had many smaller glasses of water, not using my normal 33.9 ounce water bottle. Anyways, all is going well. I am also working on a few more videos for our website (www.doodlebugsportz.com). I will post them here as they get completed.
As far as reading goes, I have been taking the easy route and doing the audiobook thing. I am currently listening to 'Think & Grow Rich' and it is an awesome book. Listening to it seems much simplier than actually reading it. There are a lot of complex sentences that are much easier to process when listening as opposed to reading.
I am also going to this seminar on Tuesday on building your own business. Should be very interesting. If anyone wants to go it is at 7PM in Lynnwood. Shoot me an email and we can go together (danny@doodlebugsportz.com).

Another update on the arena...
So here is a picture of the crew installing the turf on one of the fields at the new indoor facility. They have completed 75% of that area, and should be finishing it up early tomorrow morning to start on the loading dock field...
Also, I have been working on getting an online scheduling system up so that players can preregister for open sessions, and book private parties online. That should launch mid week next week.
And in more news, I would highly encourage anyone that is interested in being one of the first to play at the new facility to sign up for our newsletter. The reason I encourage this is simple, because we are looking at hosting an invite only sesssion at the new facility. This invite will go out through the email... Once that goes out, players will be required to preregister via the new online system. Space will be limited to this invite only session. There is a possibly there will be (2) of these sessions, one to test the facility with 15-25 people, and another to test with 40-45 people at the facility. SO, if you want to be one of the first to play at the new facility, SIGN UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER!!!
You can sign up for the newsletter here: https://app.expressemailmarketing.com/Survey.aspx?SFID=79329
For the Snohomish Outdoor Paintball Park, we have been working on adding a 3rd field to the site. The field will be a defend the base style field. I have got the posts up, and 1/2 the netting hung. I am planning on finishing up the rest of the netting, and adding bunkers this weekend and early next week, hoping to have that field playable by next weekend.
Thanks for following and check back for pictures new field in Snohomish to come soon.

Indoor Arena update
Well, some people asked to be kept up to date on our (Doodlebug Sportz) new Indoor Paintball field so here it is...
For the new bathroom/offices/storage room the painted today and will be putting on the final coats of paint in the morning, same with the new check in area...
Was had a great janitoral service come in today and clean the floor of the larger field, since the crew will be in tomorrow to install the turf...
We also got most of the tarps up today and let me tell you, these things make it much much brighter... One picture is with the tarps, the other is one of the sections we did not put a tarp up in yet.
These were supports... now they are bunkers...
Lights off... still pretty dang bright!
Preview of the Alamo/Pistols field...
The store is coming along also... we will be working on our repair room and the store office tomorrow.
Today I am starting to understand what my parents were talking about when they said 'you will understand when you are older.' I realize that I only understand one part though... Their part... I do not understand why people do what they do, or think I ever will. Peoples actions definately speak louder than there words. Some people just do not understand that weather or not you intented to do something is irrelevant. It is the action that does the real talking.
Definately been a short day. I am not tired at all so I am going to read for a bit. Hot yoga will be fun tomorrow, then another late night working at the field to get everythinng ready. I am hoping that the netting gets here soon...
PS. I suggest anyone that is interested in being one of the first few to play at the new indoor sign up for the DBS newletter. Just go to doodlebugsportz.com and in the top right part of the header picture there is a link to sign up. It looks like a newspaper I believe. We will most likely be doing a special session for people on the newsletter. The catch is that we will be limiting the # of people for these sessions to test things out. We are also going to have an online reservation system that will allow players to reserve a spot for open sessions, or private parties... Gotta work out the bugs somehow right!

Updates...
So... the weekend another week has gone by. I haven't had any pop or alcohol in 2.5 days. Feeling good and liking being disciplined. I also had hot yoga this morning and my mom came along. She did great. It is good to have my familia being active. Since I haven't been working out as much and with all the havoc of trying to set up a new indoor paintball field I had put on a little weight. I got up to 220 pounds, but it is easily being address and brought back down to a comfortable level. This morning pre-yoga I weighed in at 205. I think I will shoot to get down to 190 pounds, but not sure that is a good goal or target. I think it is better to set performance based goals... as even when I weighed 220 pounds I ran from my house to work (which is right at 9 miles) in 1 hour and 40 minutes, which includes the stop I made at Subway to grab some lunch for the day. I would say that is pretty good considering that I haven't ran any distance more than a mile for approximately 2 years...
As a part of my health goal, I have been debating running again. The crappy part is that I do not like the run around my house. When I was in high school I lived by Forest Park, so the 5 mile loop I used to cruise through was quite pleasant. By my place now there are not sidewalks for a lot of the run, and don't even consider running at night as you will surely roll an ankle since it gets pretty dark. I need to find a new place to get my jog on...
Anyways, that is the quick update. Got to get off to work. Maybe I will post up some pictures of the progress we have made at the new facility later tonight...
And using this blog to keep myself accountable is amazing!

NEW 30 day goal
So, this morning at Hot Yoga, during a few poses I felt a little grumbling in my stomach. It was annoying, and the day seemed slightly harder than normal... and I know why. Because last night Ann and I went out with some friends and had 'a few drinks.'
Over the last couple of months I have over endulged in the pleasures of life, and I have decided to excersice my discipline and take a 30 day sibatical from drinking alcohol or... Mountain Dew. I say Mountain Dew specifically because I do not drink any other pop... I will update on how the challenge is going every couple of days.
-I am also going to attempt to consume 100 ounces of water per day (half my body wieght).
In better news, I really like hot yoga. It is not tough, and the tempature is kind of pleasing. I like the fact that I now dedicate 1 hour every other day to stretching. It is also nice that Ann goes with me. We've got to keep ourselves disiplined and doing things to stay in shape. I can already feel myself walking down an unhealthy road with the alcohol and mountain dew... I do not need to be sitting around all the time.
Anyways, breakfast time is over, time to head to work. Hoping to unload turf today, and then work out at our Snohomish Outdoor Paintball Park (www.doodlebugsportz.com). Jeremy and I discussed cleaning up the site and working on adding a 3rd field out at our outdoor field.

My new blog
Hello everyone,
So... the day comes were I start my own blog. I will be using this space for a few key reasons, such as; getting feedback for videos I make for my family's company, Doodlebug Sportz (http://www.doodlebugsportz.com), to help/give advice to people that play paintball, and to generally document things I have been up to.
I am glad to start this blog, as it gives me a place to interact with friends, family, and others that can get crucial feedback from. I want to thank anyone that checks this out, even my friends that are probably thinking "man that is stupid/a waste of time."
A few good ways to follow up with what I've got going on and to find out more about me:
-Check out my families company website (http://www.doodlebugsportz.com). I manage the site and content. Current plans for the site are to add video to each page to help assist our customers in better understanding the sport of paintball, and in turn attracting more people into the sport.
-Follow me on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000120221203). Be forewarned, I don't post much there, typically just chat with friends.
-Follow me here! I will be posting most of my updates here, as I can type out as much as I want.
Here are a few things I TRY to do daily:
-READ. I try to read at least 15 minutes a day, although this does not happen everyday. It is a very good habit to get into, and for those of you that do not currently read, I would suggest you start with "The Slight Edge." It is a great book that puts out a very simple principle that will benefit everyone (plus it is an easy read).
-EXERCISE. I try to spend a minimum of 45 minutes dedicated to working out each day. I have signed up for a month of hot yoga. I go every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 AM with my brother and girlfriend.
-EAT HEALTHY. Please note, the top of this says things I TRY to do daily...
One thing that I need to do is set goals for myself. I need to set clear, attainable goals... Something I will try and do and get up in within the next week. I also need to stop talking in such loose terms as TRY. I need to stop TRYING, and just start doing… so I WILL have my goals up within the next week.
I think I will like this blogging thing, as it gives me a place to get out some knowledge (some good, some bad) that MAY help others, and gives me something to be accountable to. It is important for everyone to be accountable to someone/something.
That is all for now. More to come on things that I am working on and things I want to accomplish. Thanks for reading,
Danny
